Creating art is about making
connections and communicating. I am grateful for the partnerships I have with
galleries and arts organizations that allow me to make these connections and
build community. My work is currently on view at the Confluence Gallery in
Twisp, WA; the Winthrop Gallery in Winthrop, WA and the Methow Gallery in the
Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, WA. I am also a member of Womens Painters of WA
and my work is frequently on view in Seattle at the WPW Gallery in the Columbia
Tower. For updates on current and upcoming exhibits, please sign up for my
newsletter.
Gratitude leads my practice, and it
is important to me to not only recognize the importance of what inspires me but
to work to nurture and protect it. To this end I volunteer my time with organizations
that provide access to art and wild lands for all. I want what I create to be affordable
for people of all income levels and offering reproductions of my work is one
way that I can do that while continuing to make a living as an artist. The teaching that I do is also shaped by my
desire to give back. To this end I am honored to be able to provide
opportunities for creative expression to those that need it most and have the
least ability to access it.
Painting and printmaking are the
foundation of my practice. These two approaches to art perfectly complement
each other and I often combine them in mixed media creations. I paint very
intuitively – working from my heart, using memory and imagination. When I
create a woodblock print I draw and plan the composition in advance and enjoy
the meditative process of carving and hand printing each image. These two very
different modes of working allow me to create layers of imagery using both
media and express the depth of what I feel and want to communicate to my
audience with joy and energy.
